Review: Diamonds and Whiskey – Dark Country Voodoo

Charlotte’s Diamonds and Whiskey delivers a story filled country and rock record with Dark Country Voodoo. Behind the powerful vocals of lead singer Jenny Webb, Dark Country Voodoo is a collection of strong lyrics and familiar but welcoming sounds from the south.

Rebel Child kicks off the record. It’s a short but sweet introduction that showcases Jenny’s vocals. A badass track and anthem. A perfect way to begin the journey of this album.

Their single, Whiskey Down is another anthem with a catchy chorus that was stuck in my head after the initial listen. There’s not much to this track but it’s doesn’t disappoint.

Sugar Stick reminds me of the likes of the country juggernaut, Miranda Lambert. I can hear the phone lines now at the local country radio station. In my view, this is the radio hit for sure.

Country music is not my forte but knowing bands who sound like this exist, it’s no wonder how the genre is alive and well. A solid release from an upcoming country band from the great state of North Carolina.
