Review: Sebastian O – In Your Room

After a few listens now, I’m having a hard time trying to explain what I love about this record the most. So many bright spots it’s hard to highlight everything I want to say.

Sebastian O, an Italian singer-songwriter delivers an emotional filled ride with his album “In Your Room”. He teams up with bass player and producer Andrea Lombardini to present us with a raw, stripped-down performance that will catch you from the first track.

One of the highlights of the album is the vocals. Sebastian’s voice is filled with raw emotion. It reminded me of the likes of Conor Oberst where he channels him the best on the track Cheers. Sebastian’s soft and sweet vocals on Jacqueline really stand out. He sings of someone who he’s never forgotten and you can really feel it with his voice and poetic lyrics. I think we can all relate to this one. We all have that one person we always think about.

I wasn’t expecting to love the cover of The Ramones classic I Wanna Be Sedated, but it I fell in love with it as the track came to a close. The way he sings on this is so unique and turns the track on its head. Who doesn’t love artists who take risks? I know do.

With minimal arrangements, editing, and a raw emotional look in the mind of Sebastian O, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t check this record out.
