Review: The General Maynyrd Band – The General Maynyrd Band

The Bay area’s own General Maynyrd Band brings the heat with their new self-titled record and it’s very safe to say that right off the bat it’s brilliant.

The record spans 10 tracks that clocks in at 50 minutes. It’s full of jams, great vocals, and did I mention jams? I like to throw this word out a lot but what GMB brings with this record is pure and unfiltered groovy and beefy jams.

Each track is filled with various different flavors that include that sweet summery Californian sound mixed with some southern comfort. If I could pick one track that fits the bill on this record it would be Catch A Pirogue. It brings the soul right to your beautiful ear holes.

They slow it down with the track Trouble Is My Business. I really like lead singer, Dave Combs voice here. It’s strong. I’m jealous and I only wish I could achieve having a voice like this.

Glad To See You is also another standout. Comb’s vocals really stand out on this track as well. Some of the best songwriting on the record appears here.

GMB’s self-titled record is a must have for your collection. I would love to see them live. Listen to the record below via Spotify. You won’t regret it.
